Bedford’s a great place to do business. Friendly people, busy streets, a vibrant community. And we think it can be even better.

HRM currently has seven Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) – local businesses and property owners working in partnership with the city to enhance their communities. A group of passionate Bedford residents and business people are working to create a BID in Bedford … and we need your support.

Why does Bedford need a BID?

  • To help create a distinct, unified identity for businesses in Bedford, one that attracts shoppers, diners, and new businesses.
  • To develop and lead collaborative marketing efforts for businesses in Bedford.
  • To access grants and programs available to BIDs for ‘mainstreet’ improvement initiatives.
  • To speak with a strong, unified voice on behalf of Bedford.

What can I do?

  • Keep supporting the idea and get involved. Watch for an upcoming public meeting in January to report on the progress to date and discuss the role and advantages of a BID for Bedford. Please come with your questions and ideas.
  • Get involved! Many hands make light work, and we need people to get involved in the Organizing & Implementation Committee. If you can help, please contact, Grant Walker at quantum2000@ns.sympatico.ca.
  • Have your say! Watch your mail for a registered letter with your ballot, and vote yes! If you’re a tenant, please encourage your property owner to support a BID in Bedford.
